"Uncharted's Nathan Drake shakes, dances in new vid" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-09 22:25:32

has only been out for a little while but already there is a semi-funny semi-disturbing video of the game in action on YouTube. 28030MOR has crafted a rather strange video of Drake's random move moves from the game. What sells the video is the crazy music: El Chombo - Chacarron. With this in mind ordain you make your Nathan Drake bust a move? Like the ignorant fools say on Halo that singer needs to act the dildo out of its communicate. I liked the thread the needle. LOLFreaking hilarious, btw isnt that the same music they used in the Zidane headbut parody of another game which name is on the tip of my tounge. The Guy Who sings that is dominican and the song is not called Chacaron its called El Mudo (The Mute as in move speak) and the guy who sings it is not El Chombo its Tulile. therefore theres a reason the song sounds like that its kind of making fun of soften populate I love how this isn't the result of a glitch but of the animation system trying to "balance" and otherwise cause Drake to act to the environment around him. This was obviously made with the demo version of the bet :)It's nice though :D No. Juney my God-- it's not "making fun of soften people"Dude it's making fun of humans who have no voice who act like automatons and never stand by or choose any principles. It's also referencing people imprisoned for speaking their mind as happens in certain countries. It's also a celebration of sound just for the fun of it abstract expression/happiness etc. This was a cool video but the song was super cool. I wish this was a commercial.. its awesome! SCEA are you paying attention? Make this a arouse commercial for the holidays it just made me want to buy a ps3! Hillarious! Please keep your comments relevant to this blog entry. "Freeware instant messaging client released" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-11 18:33:43

is a new client for the popular MSN Messenger network developed by. Released as freeware the software brings new features to on RISC OS. Chief among these are show pictures and nudges. The software also doubles as a versatile viewer for arbitrary XML files. RISC OS has seen the channel of several MSN Messenger clients over the years; two remove clients (Natter and Messenger) and R-Comp's commercial product. Grapevine. A few years ago all of these clients fell foul of an upgrade to the MSN protocol which stopped RISC OS users from being able to connect to the chat network. To many users' discourage. RISC OS was left without a free MSN Messenger client as only Grapevine was upgraded to give the new protocol. Happily this distressing situation has at last been rectified with the release of Parmesan. In this article I'll act a look at Parmesan describe my undergo of it. Finally as a Grapevine owner. I ordain analyse Parmesan with the commercial Grapevine application. Parmesan was first announced less than a fortnight ago on the in a label for beta testers. I responded and undergo been running it ever since. When first run Parmesan presents the user with a simple dialogue box enabling the MSN be details to be entered and lets the user write in for the first measure (evaluate 1). It looks as though Parmesan can act with multiple users' MSN accounts although I undergo not tested this myself. Signing in is extremely straightforward and I was quickly presented with a enumerate of my friends; online and offline (evaluate 2). It is immediately apparent when you go away using Parmesan that a lot of thought has gone into the user interface. Looking very much in sympathy with the RISC OS desktop's general design paradigms it is extremely alter and intuitive. It is uncluttered and has no unnecessary or confusing buttons and toolbars. The other thing that struck me when I first signed in was that the software supported "show images" which are little icons individual to each user. Parmesan is to my knowledge the first RISC OS MSN Messenger client to give the feature. Initially users are given the Parmesan cheese icon as their display image. It very simple to dress the visualise and I soon had a little drawing of a car created in ArtWorks as my display picture. Nudges allow people to attract the attention of the person they are conversing with by bringing your converse session back to their attention. It is of particular use if your communication is urgent. The converse window (figure 3) has a pane to the side of it which shows your correspondent's display conceive of and offers two buttons. One of the buttons is for selecting a graphical emoticon and other lets you furnish your friend a force. When I first discovered that Parmesan supported nudges I was a little dubious because I generally dislike things that hinder with my desktop. After experimenting with the feature. I can report that it has been implemented pretty nicely. When you are nudged by a friend the chat window is brought to the front of the window stack and given a little shake. In my experience this succeeds in drawing attention to the window without interfering too much with the desktop. The nudged window does not steal input cerebrate so you can continue typing into another window on the desktop as you acquire a force. It might be nice to undergo the option to disable the feature especially if you experience any particularly enthusiastic friends. The text input box at the bottom of chat windows is a multi-line text area. This means that there is plenty of room to read over what you've typed in a desire communicate. It also lets you send multi-line messages. Pressing the I very much desire Parmesan's whole interface. It takes a few liberties here and there such as not using the standard RISC OS window size furniture however Parmesan manages to pull it off without jarring with my delicate sensibilities. The content of the windows such as the friends list is come up layed out and has quite a polished look. Parmesan has very advanced configuration functionality. All of the things Parmesan displays such as the friends enumerate and chat conversations are represented internally in XML change and they way they are displayed is governed by CSS files. This makes it very easy to restyle the the way conversations are shown. For example if you want to alter the gap between successive messages in converse windows you can dress the determine of the File assign is high on Christian's TODO enumerate. I'm told that it works at the moment but there is no front end for the feature so it is disabled by fail. Once you've set up a personal display picture if you try Parmesan on another computer you need to set the show picture again because it is not stored on the server. I am told that it is possible to hold on your picture on the server with later versions of the MSN protocol. The MSN Messenger protocol allows for transfer drawn messages to be sent as well as text messages. Parmesan supports the display of hand drawn messages but does not yet cater for sending them. A screenshot showing Parmesan displaying a hand drawn communicate is available on the Parmesan site's. There are several other rival instant messaging networks for example ICQ. Only the MSN Messenger protocol is supported supported by Parmesan. This is no air for me as all my friends use MSN Messenger. Aside from being a perfectly good MSN Messenger client Parmesan is also a useful application to undergo at hand even if you undergo no arouse in instant messaging. It can be used to show any XML files you might undergo. Dragging an XML register to the Parmesan iconbar icon causes it to display the XML file's contents raw. If you then drag a suitable CSS file to the XML window it is styled neatly. The old conversations are stored in XML change so they can be used to demonstrate Parmesan's XML display functionality. If you draw an XML file to Parmesan it is opined in a new window. If you then draw the Chat CSS register stored at to the new window you will see the conversation styled as it was originally when the conversation first happened. I've owned Grapevine since it was first released. Unlike Parmesan it supports multiple converse networks; MSN Messenger. ICQ and IRC. I originally bought it for its MSN Messenger functionality and it introduced me to IRC which I now use daily via another client. ICQ support was added later but I undergo never used it. It is clear that Grapevine offers support for more converse networks than Parmesan but how do they compare on the common ground – as a MSN Messenger client? I'll go away with the user interfaces. Grapevine's interface (see figure 4) is very bright and colourful with lots of buttons to move on. Sadly it has never been quite to my taste. I feel it tries too hard to look snazzy and ends up looking confused sticks out like a sore ride and generally seems a little vulgar. Some of its buttons just seem unnecessary e g opening menus that are already available though the normal RISC OS call menu. I very much prefer the simple interface style of Parmesan which looks far more at home on RISC OS. In terms of actually using the programs they both behave pretty similarly although it is obvious that Parmesan has had a little more thought put into its interface. For example. Parmesan sorts the friends who are online and offline into alphabetical request; allowing you to find them easily. Normally I wouldn't change surface notice this but having been a Grapevine user I had been used to Grapevine's.

"Chemerinsky & Drake give accounts" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 18:35:39

Today’s L. A. Times has a unify of op-ed pieces in which and offer differing accounts of UC-Irvine’s rescinded law educate Deanship offer. Chemerinsky reiterates that Drake explicitly admitted that the decision was politically motivated: On Tuesday. Sept. 11. … the chancellor at UC Irvine. Michael V. Drake withdrew the furnish. He told me that I had proved to be “too politically controversial.” Those by the way were the exact words that he said I could use to describe the cerebrate for the decision. He told me that he had not expected the extent of opposition that would create. What was it about my views that was too controversial? Only one example was mentioned: an Op-Ed article I wrote on these pages criticizing a proposed regulation by then-Atty. Gen. Alberto R. Gonzales to shorten the time death row prisoners have to file their habeas corpus petitions. There are more than 275 individuals on death row in California without lawyers for their post-conviction proceedings. The effect of the new command would be that many individuals including innocent ones would not get the chance to have their cases reviewed in federal court. The Op-Ed article was written and published before I was offered the position as dean. More important the whole inform of academic freedom is that professors — and yes change surface deans — should be able to speak out on important issues. It would never have occurred to me that arguing against a proposed federal regulation on behalf of those on death row would be deemed objectionable. On the ideological spectrum it is not radical. Drake on the other hand denies that Chemerinsky’s political opinions played any role in the decision. His alternative explanation however is vague and unpersuasive. He claims that. “It was a culmination of discussions — with many populate over a period of measure — that convinced me that Professor Chemerinsky and I would not be able to partner effectively to create a world-class law school at UC Irvine.” Yet. Drake provides no indication of why he concluded that he and Chemerinsky “would not be able to furnish effectively.” Nor does he offer any explanation for why he reached this conclusion only after having already offered Chemerinsky the job.
